Jeanie’s Whole 30 Day 7 Rewind

The Mental & the Physical

Day 7: I just want a nap…

You know it’s a good day when you wake before the four-legged creatures taking up valuable real estate in your bed. I did get 9 hours of sleep but I don’t think that qualifies me as being in the “I just want a nap” phase. It is the weekend. Sleeping-in is required.

Per the Whole30 timeline, my body should be changing from using quick carbs and sugar as energy to using fat for energy. This should result in me feeling exhausted because after all, that’s a big change. Hmmm… nope! I motivated myself pretty easily out the door for a run and then walked to the pool to relax. My brain feels clearer, and I generally feel happier all around. I’m starting to think if the headache hasn’t come yet, it’s not going to. No one likes a bragger, but come on… I’ve got to brag just a little about this because that’s HUGE.

After my run, I decided I just wanted something quick and easy. Guess what it involved… yep! Leftovers! I’m getting good at piecing together a complete meal of protein, carbs and fat from multiple leftovers.

Day 7 Breakfast
I skipped lunch again today because I didn’t eat breakfast til Noon.

For dinner I choose another recipe about of the Slim Palate Cookbook… pan roasted pork chops with sage and lemon, leftover ratatouille, and spinach.

Since it was Sunday, I also stayed true to my word and made the Nom Nom Paleo’s Tropical Granola.

Then because I’m an overachiever, I created a delicious quiche for breakfast for the next few days. The recipe is definitely going to get passed onto you’ll love it.

Body moving!

Fitbit says 9,146 steps for the day.

Oh my god! I’m on Week 7, Day 3 of my Couch to 5k. Know what that means? Five minutes of walking to start, 25 minutes (in a row!) of jogging, and then a 5 minute cool down. And I didn’t stop once! Before I start jogging I have to pep talk myself… the standard “it doesn’t have to be fast, it doesn’t have to be pretty, it just has to be continual.” The amazing part is that I’m going farther and farther without stopping or even feeling the need to stop. I never thought I would be able to do this.

At one point I had to run past a family on their patio drinking beer and socializing with their friends at 10:30am. First who drinks beer at 10:30am on a Sunday? But it wasn’t so bad… I did it and although I felt self-conscious, I wasn’t grasping for breath and didn’t feel like a hippo bounding down the trail. I may be a bit away from being a supple leopard, but I’m getting there.

I ain’t afraid of Day 8!
